New York, NY– The following statement can be attributed to Council Member Ben Kallos (D-Manhattan) on improvements to Checkbook NYC, the New York City Comptroller's site to track city spending:
"Adding NYCEDC information and public alerts to Checkbook NYC represents a much-needed upgrade. The ability of the public to easily monitor the city's financial information, independently or through new apps, is crucial for open, accountable government. I commend Comptroller Stringer, Mayor de Blasio and the NYCEDC for this large step forward toward greater transparency."
